Materials list

You will probably have most of these materials in your craft supplies but if not they are easy to purchase from your local craft or art store as well as with all the online options. 

I encourage you to make use of supplies you already have or make creative replacements wherever and whenever possible! 

I believe that most of these products will be very easy to obtain and, remember, not all of these supplies and materials are essential for a successful Art Journal Wallet. 

Sourcing supplies

For your vintage wallet, books, sewing patterns and junk jewellery I would look at eBay and Etsy along with your local charity shops, thrift stores and flea markets.

In the UK - Hobbycraft, B&M stores, The Range, The Works and WH Smith along with local independent art stores, stationery shops and small online suppliers.

In the US - Michaels craft stores, Hobby Lobby, Target, Dollar stores and Staples along with local independent art supply stores, stationery shops and online suppliers.

- Vintage leather folding wallet (mine measures approx 11cm x 17cm (4" x 6.5" ) when closed)

- Watercolour, mixed media and tracing paper - the brands you like

- Vintage papers - old book pages, music pages, children's books etc

- White tissue paper & patterned tissue papers you like

- Vintage sewing pattern

- Generous length of ribbon, leather or cord (I used 100cm / 40" length)

- Gold leaf flakes 

- Fashion magazines

- Decoupage glue (Modge Podge or similar) & brush

- Acrylic paint - I used Paynes Grey

- Sponge

- Carbon paper

- Basic white erasers

- Basic lino cutter set

- White gesso & clear gesso. I like the Liquitex brand but lots of brands available

- Six strand embroidery threads and needle. I use DMC brand

- Scissors, craft knife and/or paper cutter (optional)

- Ruler

- Bone folding tool. (A plastic gift card or old credit card will do the same job!)

- Canvas fabric

- Strong thread or waxed bookbinding thread

- Large eye needle for the binding thread

- Yes Paste glue. 

- Pallet knife (optional)

- Length of leather ribbon or cord (Etsy is a good resource)

- Small loop or charm taken from a piece of broken junk jewellery
